Rasmus Jensen is a freelance fantasy painter and illustrator specializing in fine art and narrative illustration. Based in Denmark, he provides high-quality, original, and concept artwork for the publishing, and game industries.
While most of his work serves the professional world, he also works on his own personal projects.
In his personal paintings, he presents a narrative, taking place in his own fantasy universe under the working title “Aris universe”. Here we follow the main characters of different races, through multiple paintings, following a set storyline. The Aris universe originally started as background inspiration for making a fantasy portfolio.
He didn´t want to paint what was already out there, so it began.
From the moment, Rasmus Jensen could hold a pencil, he has been drawing.
He has always been attracted to the world of fantasy, and remember crystal clear in the 7th grade when he was first introduced to Dungeons & Dragons and Warhammer. It was magic, and it ignited a spark. He was very inspired by artists like Paul Bonner, Larry Elmore and Adrian Smith, in his early years.
Not completely sure what direction to take his art career he became a classical animator and worked in the animation and game industry in Canada and Europe for almost a decade.
He began painting later in life, and encouraged by fellow artists he picked up oil painting….and fell in love with it.
Rasmus also works in other media such as gouache, ink, watercolor, pencil, and digital.
When necessary he even builds actual models, of scenes and creatures, to get light and volume information out of them.
